I am a gay, Jewish woman. More accurately, I am a queer, Jewish nonbinary person. And I am scared to the point where I am considering leaving this country. I dont want to be the last Jew in Berlin.
You know what keeps me here?
We're winning.
And the more they show their hand, the bigger we're winning.
Consider this;
Their main strategy is that they don't want people to vote. And, if they DO vote, they don't want their vote to count ("spoiled ballots"). And, if the votes ARE counted, they don't want to concede. And, if the vote goes overwhelmingly against them, they want to invalidate the election. And if they can't invalidate the election, they want to remove the winning candidate, either by legal means (California), or illegal means (Michigan).
They don't have winning ideas, and they don't have viable candidates.
And demographics are against them, cuz white women aren't making enough babies to keep a white majority (the forced birth movement is designed to keep their majority). In the meantime, the younger generation is becoming increasingly progressive. And women are scared enough to migrate out of red states. Which will radicalize the red states even more. Which leads them to showing their hand more. Which has them losing harder.
So.
What they are left with is Armed Radicals. The crazier, the better.
They are banking on the Crazy Armed Radicals to make everyone else so scared that they run away.
I know cuz I'm one of the people they want out. And I am not disinclined to take the hint.
But I'm not packing yet. Because I see the bigger picture: They can't even take their ball and go home; they have to wreck the game.
Which means that we're winning.
We just have to keep fighting.
So, take a minute. Take a deep breath. And get ready to kick ass in the midterms.
